HOW I LOST MY VIRGINITY AS A CHURCH GIRL: EPISODE 16
EPISODE 16: THE GAME CHANGES
I ran.
I didn’t stop.
Not when my legs started to burn.
Not when my breath came out in sharp, painful gasps.
Not even when my hostel came into view.
I just ran.
Because if I stopped…
I would break.
I burst into my room, slamming the door behind me.
Ifeoma jumped. “Adaeze! What happened?”
I couldn’t speak.
I just stood there, shaking, my chest rising and falling like I had been chased by demons.
“Talk to me now!” she pressed, standing up.
I looked at her, and the words finally spilled out.
“David was with Vanessa,” I whispered.
Her eyes widened. “What?”
“I saw them.” My voice cracked. “He… he laughed, Ifeoma. Like I was never even in his life.”
Ifeoma closed her eyes and exhaled. “Jesus Christ.”
I collapsed onto my bed.
Tears threatened to fall, but I held them back. I had already cried too much for that boy.
“Ifeoma,” I whispered, “what have I done to myself?”
She sat beside me, rubbing my back. “Ada, you need to let him go.”
I let out a bitter laugh.
Let him go?
If only it were that easy.
THE MESSAGE THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
Just as I was about to switch off my phone and disappear from the world, a notification popped up.
A message.
From an unknown number.
Unknown: Adaeze, I know everything. If you want to know the truth about David, meet me behind the old lecture hall at 7 PM. Come alone.
My body went cold.
“What is it?” Ifeoma asked.
I showed her the message.
She frowned. “Who sent this?”
“I don’t know,” I whispered.
“Wait, wait, wait,” she sat up straighter. “This looks like a setup oh.”
I swallowed. “Or… it could be my only chance to know the truth.”
Ifeoma shook her head. “Adaeze, please. You just saw David and Vanessa together. What more truth do you need?”
I looked at the message again.
I had to go.
Something told me this wasn’t just gossip.
This was deeper.
“Be careful,” Ifeoma warned.
I nodded. “I will.”
But deep down, I knew there was no way to prepare for what was coming.
THE DARK MEETING
At exactly 7 PM, I made my way to the old lecture hall.
The place was quiet. Too quiet.
I looked around.
Nobody.
Just dim streetlights, empty benches, and a cold breeze that sent chills down my spine.
I swallowed. “Hello?”
A shadow moved.
I turned sharply.
Someone stepped out from behind the building.
Brother Samuel.
I froze. “You?”
He nodded. “I sent the message.”
My heart started to race.
“What do you want?” I asked.
He stepped closer. “Adaeze… you don’t know the kind of mess you’re in.”
I frowned. “What are you talking about?”
He sighed and rubbed his forehead. “David. Vanessa. They’re not who you think they are.”
I folded my arms. “Oh, so now you care?”
“Listen to me!” he snapped. “I’ve been watching them for a while. David is not just some player that uses girls and dumps them. It’s worse than that.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Worse how?”
He lowered his voice. “David and Vanessa are running a bet.“
Silence.
My heart stopped.
“A bet?” I whispered.
Brother Samuel nodded.
“Adaeze,” he said, “David never loved you. He was playing a game. With Vanessa.”
I shook my head. “You’re lying.”
“Am I?” He brought out his phone. “Look at this.”
He showed me a screenshot of a chat.
Between David and Vanessa.
David: Babe, you owe me. I told you I could get her to sleep with me before the semester ends.
Vanessa: LOL. I didn’t believe you, but you did it. I’m impressed.
David: Now, pay up. You lost the bet.
My legs gave way.
I collapsed onto the bench.
My hands were shaking so hard I almost dropped the phone.
A bet.
David used me for a bet.
I was never special.
I was just a challenge.
I looked up at Brother Samuel, my breathing ragged. “How did you get this?”
He exhaled. “Vanessa was careless. She left her phone unlocked in the fellowship office. I saw the messages and sent them to myself.”
Tears stung my eyes. “Why are you telling me this now?”
“Because,” he whispered, “they’re planning to humiliate you.”
I blinked. “What?”
He leaned in closer. “Vanessa is going to expose you in front of the whole church. She’s going to send proof that you and David slept together. She wants to ruin you, Adaeze.”
A sharp pain stabbed my chest.
Vanessa wasn’t done with me.
She wanted total destruction.
Brother Samuel grabbed my hand. “Adaeze, you need to act before she does.”
I looked at him, my vision blurry with tears. “Act how?”
His eyes darkened. “We need to bring her down first.“
I stared at him, speechless.
This was the same Brother Samuel that was always judging me.
And now?
He wanted revenge.
The game had changed.
And I?
I had a choice to make.
