HOW I LOST MY VIRGINITY AS A CHURCH GIRL: EPISODE 19
EPISODE 19: THE NIGHT OF NO RETURN
I didn’t sleep that night.
How could I?
Vanessa had me in a chokehold, Brother Samuel was working against me, and worst of all, David… the person I thought cared about me… had given her my number like it was nothing.
I felt trapped.
Should I confront David? Should I ignore everything and move on?
Or should I accept the bitter truth—that I had been played?
By morning, my head was aching. I didn’t even feel like going to class. But just as I was about to curl back into bed, my phone rang.
David.
I stared at the screen, my heart racing.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to hear his voice. But a part of me needed answers.
I picked up. “Hello?”
“Hey, Ada,” he said, his voice softer than usual. “Can we see?”
I almost laughed. Just like that?
“No,” I replied coldly.
“Ada, please,” he sighed. “I know you’re upset. Let’s talk.”
I hesitated. My mind told me to block his number and move on, but my heart? It was still foolish.
“Where?” I asked.
“My place,” he said.
I exhaled. I knew it was a bad idea, but against my better judgment, I agreed.
And that?
That was my first mistake.
THE MOMENT OF TRUTH
When I got to his place, he was already waiting outside. He looked… different. Less confident.
Guilty.
He let me in, and as soon as I sat down, he started pacing. “Ada, I swear, it’s not what you think.”
I folded my arms. “Really? Then explain.”
He rubbed his forehead. “Vanessa… she’s manipulative. She showed you pictures, didn’t she?”
I scoffed. “So they’re fake?”
He paused.
I laughed bitterly. “Exactly.”
He sat beside me. “Look, I won’t lie to you. Yes, Vanessa and I have history. But I don’t love her.”
“Yet you were in her bed!” I snapped.
He ran a hand down his face. “Ada, she set me up! She came over, started crying about how she missed me, how she wanted closure. One thing led to another, and… I messed up.”
I swallowed hard. “You slept with her.”
Silence.
He didn’t need to say it. His face told me everything.
My chest felt heavy.
“So, what am I to you?” I whispered.
He reached for my hand, but I pulled away.
“Ada, I care about you,” he said desperately. “I do! But Vanessa… she doesn’t want to let me go.”
I shook my head. “And what about me? What do I do with all this?”
He sighed. “I’ll fix it. Just… don’t give up on us.”
Us?
I didn’t even know what we were anymore.
And just as I was about to respond, there was a loud knock at the door.
BANG! BANG!! BANG!!!
David froze.
My heart skipped.
Then a familiar voice came from the other side.
“David, open this door! I know she’s inside!”
Vanessa.
My stomach turned.
David shot up. “Jesus.”
I stared at him. “Did you tell her I was coming?”
“Of course not!” he whispered. “I don’t even know how she—”
BANG!
She started hitting the door harder.
“David, open up before I break this door down!”
Panic rose in my chest. I wasn’t ready for another confrontation.
“What do we do?” I asked.
David didn’t answer. He just ran his hands through his hair, looking completely lost.
Then his phone beeped.
He glanced at it. His eyes widened.
“What?” I asked.
He slowly turned the screen to me.
It was a message from Vanessa.
Vanessa: If you don’t open this door in the next 10 seconds, I will send EVERYTHING to the church WhatsApp group.
I felt my blood go cold.
Everything?
Did she have proof? Did she have chats? Pictures?
Before I could even process it, another message came in.
Vanessa: You think you can play me, David? You and your “church girl”? Let’s see how holy she is after this.
I shot up from the couch. “David, what does she have?”
He looked at me, his face pale. “I don’t know.”
“David, I swear, if my name enters that group—”
BANG!
The door flung open.
Vanessa stepped in.
Her eyes burning with fire.
Her phone in her hand.
And the most dangerous smile on her face.
“Game over, Adaeze.”
