HOW I LOST MY VIRGINITY AS A CHURCH GIRL: Episode 22

EPISODE 22: THE CONSEQUENCES OF SECRETS

I couldn’t sleep.

Vanessa’s words haunted me.
Brother Samuel’s threats echoed in my mind.
And David? He had been avoiding me.

I lay in my bed, staring at the ceiling, my thoughts running wild. What if Pastor calls me out in church? What if my parents find out? What if David really doesn’t care about me?

A knock on my door snapped me back to reality.

“Who is it?” I called, my voice shaky.

No response.

Another knock, this time softer.

I slowly got up and opened the door.

David.

His face was serious. His usual playful smile was gone.

“Can I come in?” he asked, his voice low.

I hesitated but stepped aside.

He walked in and shut the door. Then, he turned to me.

“Adaeze, we need to talk.”

My heart pounded. Was he going to confirm what Vanessa said? Was he going to break my heart?

“Talk about what?” I asked, folding my arms.

He exhaled, rubbing his hands together. “I know you’ve been hearing things. And I know you’re upset.”

I swallowed. “So it’s true?”

He hesitated. That tiny pause said everything.

“David, answer me!” My voice cracked.

He looked away. “Vanessa and I… we have history.”

My chest tightened. History?

“But it’s over,” he quickly added. “She’s just trying to mess with you.”

I laughed bitterly. “So you didn’t sleep with her recently?”

Silence.

I felt my knees go weak. “David…”

“Ada, I was stupid, okay? I made mistakes before I met you. But I swear, it doesn’t mean anything.”

“You mean nothing happened between you two recently?” I asked again, this time slower.

More silence.

I felt something inside me break.

I had been a fool.

“So I was just an option,” I whispered.

“No! Ada, listen—”

I stepped back. “Don’t touch me.”

For the first time, I saw panic in David’s eyes. “Ada, please. I like you. I don’t want to lose you.”

I wiped my eyes. “David… you already lost me.”

Before he could speak again, another knock came.

Not now.

“Who’s that?” David asked.

I wiped my face and opened the door.

Brother Samuel.

My stomach dropped.

His eyes moved from me to David, then back to me. His lips curled in satisfaction.

“Adaeze,” he said, shaking his head. “So this is what you’ve been doing?”

I froze. This was bad.

David scoffed. “What’s your problem, bro?”

“My problem?” Brother Samuel laughed. “Do you know where I’m coming from?”

I swallowed. “Where?”

“Pastor wants to see you.”

My heart stopped.

It was happening.

Everything was crashing.

David frowned. “See her for what?”

Brother Samuel smiled wickedly. “Someone reported you, Adaeze. And guess what?” He leaned closer. “Your parents are coming.”

My breath hitched. No.

My hands shook as I looked at David. His jaw was clenched. He turned to Samuel.

“She’s not going anywhere,” David said coldly.

Samuel smirked. “We’ll see about that.”

The walls were closing in.

I wasn’t just in trouble anymore.

I was finished.
