HOW I LOST MY VIRGINITY AS A CHURCH GIRL: EPISODE 29
EPISODE 29: THE LAST CHANCE
Adaeze lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Sleep refused to come.
Her father’s words kept replaying in her mind—“You will not return to that school.”
Everything was crumbling.
Her friends? Gone.
Her reputation? Destroyed.
Her future? Now uncertain.
She turned to face the wall, hugging herself. How did it get this bad? How did she let everything slip through her fingers?
A knock came at the door. She didn’t respond.
Another knock. Then her mother’s voice. “Ada, please open the door.”
She hesitated before getting up and unlocking it.
Her mother walked in, closing the door behind her. She sat on the bed and patted the space beside her. “Come and sit.”
Adaeze obeyed, sitting quietly.
Her mother studied her for a moment before speaking. “Your father is strict, but he loves you.”
“I know,” Adaeze muttered.
“But love doesn’t remove consequences,” her mother said gently. “He’s hurt. We all are. But more than anything, we just want you to be okay.”
Adaeze swallowed. “Mummy… I don’t want to leave school.”
Her mother sighed. “What do you want me to do? The situation is bad. Your father is only trying to protect you.”
“I know I made mistakes,” Adaeze’s voice cracked. “But I can’t just run away. People will talk either way. I want to finish what I started.”
Her mother didn’t respond immediately. She was thinking.
After a long pause, she finally said, “I will talk to him. But, Ada, if he agrees, you have to promise me—no more secrets. No more reckless choices. No more David.“
Adaeze’s heart skipped at the mention of his name.
David.
She hadn’t even thought of him since she got home. He hadn’t called. Hadn’t texted.
Had he moved on already?
Did she even want to reach out?
She blinked back the emotions and nodded. “I promise.”
Her mother squeezed her hand. “Good. Get some rest. We’ll talk in the morning.”
As she left the room, Adaeze lay back down, staring at the ceiling again.
Would her father really change his mind?
And if he did…
Was she ready to face the world again?
