The Prodigal Daughter – EPISODE 1
Episode 1 – The Beginning of the End
The day Sandra left home, it was as if a dark cloud had settled over the Adegbite household. Her mother, Mama Sandra, sat by the window, staring into the empty street, her lips moving in silent prayers. Her father, Baba Sandra, paced the living room, muttering under his breath. But Sandra? She was gone, and she had no plans of looking back.
It all started with a simple disagreement. At least, that’s what she told herself. She was tired of the endless rules, the constant warnings about the ‘dangers of the world.’ Why couldn’t they just let her live her life? She was young, beautiful, and smart—she deserved more than this suffocating house where every decision had to be ‘prayed about.’
“God is not wicked,” she had snapped at her mother that morning. “He didn’t create me to suffer. I want to enjoy my life, Mama!”
Mama Sandra had clutched her chest as if Sandra had struck her. “My daughter, the world is not what you think it is. There are wolves out there. Stay under God’s covering.”
But Sandra had made up her mind. She packed her bag and called the one person she knew would help—her best friend, Deborah. Deborah, the girl with the flashy clothes, the expensive phone, and the ‘soft life’ Sandra secretly envied. She had always wondered how Deborah managed to afford it all. That day, she decided to find out.
Deborah arrived within minutes, her car honking outside the gate. Sandra stepped out, ignoring her mother’s final plea. “If you walk out of this house, you are walking out of God’s protection!”
Sandra hesitated, just for a moment. But then she squared her shoulders, lifted her chin, and got into the car. The door slammed shut. It was the beginning of a new life.
As the car sped down the road, Sandra felt a rush of excitement. No more rules. No more curfews. No more prayers before every decision. She was free. Or so she thought.
