The Prodigal Daughter – Episode 9
Episode 9 – The Escape Plan
Sandra kept her smile in place, even as her mind raced. She had to leave. She didn’t know exactly what Mr. Leke and Deborah were up to, but one thing was clear—she was in serious danger.
She glanced around the VIP section. The bouncers stood near the entrance, their eyes sweeping over the room, uninterested in anything but their job. The music thumped through the walls, drowning out the worried voice in her head. No one would help her.
She needed to help herself.
Mr. Leke was still talking, but Sandra barely heard him. She was studying the room, searching for an opening. Then, her eyes landed on her bag, sitting on the couch beside him. Her phone was inside.
If she could get to it, she could call someone. Anyone.
She forced a laugh at something he said. “Mr. Leke, you really know how to enjoy life,” she said, pretending to be impressed. “No wonder Deborah looks up to you so much.”
Mr. Leke smirked. “A man with power always has people who admire him.”
Sandra reached for her drink and, with a ‘careless’ swing of her arm, she knocked it over. The glass shattered, spilling liquid across the table and onto Mr. Leke’s expensive suit.
“Oh my God! I’m so sorry!” Sandra gasped, jumping up in fake panic.
Mr. Leke cursed under his breath, grabbing a napkin. Deborah grabbed tissues, trying to help. In the chaos, Sandra lunged for her bag, grabbing it quickly.
“Let me get something from the bathroom to clean it up,” she said hurriedly.
Mr. Leke waved her off, still distracted by his wet clothes. “Go, go.”
Sandra didn’t wait. She turned and walked briskly toward the restroom. But as soon as she was out of sight, she ran.
Her heart pounded as she pushed through the crowd, weaving between dancing bodies. The exit was just ahead. Just a few more steps—
Then, just as she reached the door, a strong hand grabbed her arm.
She turned sharply, her breath catching.
It was Deborah. And she did not look happy.
