The Prodigal Daughter – Episode 13
Episode 13 – A Familiar Face
Sandra’s breath hitched as she turned towards the car, her heart hammering against her chest. The voice was urgent, desperate. But the moment she saw the person in the driver’s seat, shock paralyzed her.
It was Tolu.
Her childhood friend. The boy who used to live three houses away from hers. The one who left for Lagos years ago.
“Sandra! Get in now!” he yelled, his eyes wild with urgency.
Mr. Leke’s men were already moving. She had only seconds to act.
Without thinking, Sandra lunged forward, grabbing the car handle. She yanked the door open and threw herself inside just as one of the men reached for her.
“Drive!” she screamed.
Tolu didn’t hesitate. The tires screeched as he slammed his foot on the accelerator, sending the car racing down the street. In the rearview mirror, Sandra saw Mr. Leke standing there, watching them, his face unreadable. Deborah stood beside him, her expression torn between anger and something else—was it regret?
Sandra slumped back in her seat, her hands shaking uncontrollably. She turned to Tolu, her breath ragged. “How… how did you find me?”
Tolu’s grip on the steering wheel tightened. “Your mother. She told me everything. She’s been worried sick, Sandra. She begged me to find you. And when I saw you running out of that club… I just knew.”
Sandra squeezed her eyes shut, guilt washing over her. “I’ve made a mess of everything, Tolu. I don’t even know where to start.”
Tolu glanced at her, his voice firm but gentle. “Then let’s start by getting you out of here.”
The car sped into the night, but Sandra knew one thing for sure—this wasn’t over. Mr. Leke wouldn’t let her go that easily.
And she wasn’t ready for what was coming next.
