The Prodigal Daughter
Episode 57: A New Beginning (FINALE)

Sandra sat quietly beside her parents in the pew, her heart full as the church filled with the sounds of worship. The familiar scent of incense and the soft hum of the choir transported her back to her childhood, a time when things seemed simpler, more innocent. It felt like a lifetime ago.

The pastor’s voice boomed through the church, steady and sure. “There is always a way back,” he said, his words echoing in Sandra’s mind. “No matter how far you’ve gone, how lost you’ve been—God is always ready to welcome you home. The prodigal son returned, and so can you.”

Sandra’s heart skipped a beat. The sermon was speaking directly to her. She had lived the story of the prodigal daughter, leaving her home, walking down a path she thought would bring freedom, but instead, it had led to destruction. For seven long months, she had been in Lagos—a time that felt more like seven years. She had seen things no young girl should ever have to see, faced dangers and heartbreak, and made choices she could never undo. But through it all, God had kept her.

Her eyes filled with tears as she remembered the dark days—the nights she cried herself to sleep, the fear that had gripped her, and the weight of the decisions she had made. But even then, God had never left her. He had protected her, guided her, and brought her to this point. She was no longer the broken girl who had run away from home, seeking freedom in the wrong places. She was a new person, forged in the fire of her experiences.

Sandra’s thoughts drifted to Deborah. Her journey had been different, but they had both learned the same lesson—the world may promise freedom, but only God could offer true peace and restoration.

“Don’t let your past define you,” the pastor continued, his words a balm to Sandra’s soul. “You are not what you did. You are who God says you are.”

As the congregation stood to sing the final hymn, Sandra whispered a prayer in her heart, thanking God for the strength to overcome. She had a second chance—a chance to rebuild her life, to walk in the light, and to help others along the way.

Sandra was determined. She had already begun working on her dreams, reapplying to school, and planning for the future. But she wasn’t just going to keep this new life to herself. She had to share her story, to help other young girls who might be walking the same dangerous path she once had. If she could reach just one person, then it would all be worth it.

As she walked out of the church with her family, her heart was light, filled with a peace she hadn’t known in years. The road ahead wouldn’t be easy—life never was—but she knew now that she didn’t have to face it alone. She had learned the hard way, but she had learned. And now, she was on the path to something far better.

Sandra was no longer the prodigal daughter. She was a daughter of the King, and her journey, though tough, had brought her to a place of purpose, strength, and grace.

This was only the beginning.

The End.
