HOW I LOST MY VIRGINITY AS A CHURCH GIRL: Episode 23
EPISODE 23: THE LAST STRAW
I couldn’t sleep that night.
Everything was happening too fast.
Vanessa had set me up. Brother Samuel was still watching me. And David… David had been lying to me all along.
I tossed and turned in my bed, my mind racing. I needed to clear my head, but every time I closed my eyes, I saw that picture of him in Vanessa’s bed.
Had I been stupid all this time?
Or was there more to the story?
By morning, I had made up my mind. I needed answers.
And I was going to get them.
THE CONFRONTATION
I found David outside the lecture hall, laughing with some guys.
For a second, I hesitated. He looked so… normal. Like he wasn’t destroying my life piece by piece.
But I shook off the doubt and walked straight to him.
“We need to talk,” I said firmly.
He raised an eyebrow. “Ada? What’s wrong?”
I didn’t respond. I just turned and started walking. He followed.
We found an empty spot behind the building. I turned to face him, my chest rising and falling fast.
“Did you sleep with Vanessa?” I asked, getting straight to the point.
His expression changed instantly. The playful David disappeared.
“Ada, who told you that?”
I laughed bitterly. “Who told me? I saw the proof with my own eyes!”
He sighed and rubbed his forehead. “Ada, listen—”
“Don’t ‘listen’ me!” My voice was shaking. “Just tell me the truth. Yes or no?”
Silence.
Then he exhaled, looking away. “It’s complicated.”
My stomach dropped.
Complicated?
I felt like slapping him. “It’s a yes or no question, David. Did you or did you not sleep with Vanessa?”
He didn’t answer.
That was my answer.
Tears stung my eyes. “Wow. And to think I actually—” I stopped myself before I said too much.
David stepped closer. “Ada, I swear, it wasn’t what you think. Vanessa is—”
“I don’t care!” I cut him off. My voice broke. “I trusted you, David. And you played me.”
He tried to touch my arm, but I jerked back like his hands were fire.
I turned and walked away.
For the first time since this nightmare started, I wasn’t confused anymore.
I was just angry.
VANESSA STRIKES AGAIN
I wasn’t even back in my hostel when my phone vibrated.
A message from an unknown number.
Unknown: You should have listened to me, sweet girl.
My heart skipped.
Another message followed immediately.
Unknown: Now the real game begins.
I stopped walking, my breathing uneven.
Vanessa.
What was she up to now?
And why did I feel like I was about to find out in the worst way possible?
