HOW I LOST MY VIRGINITY AS A CHURCH GIRL: Episode 7
EPISODE 7: A FRIEND OR AN ENEMY?
After Vanessa and David stepped outside, I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself.
Something about that girl felt… wrong.
The way she smiled, the way she touched David like she still owned him. Like I wasn’t even there.
I should have just gone home.
But I waited.
Ten minutes passed. Fifteen.
Finally, the door opened, and she walked back in alone.
“Hey, dear,” she said sweetly.
I forced a smile. “Hey.”
She sighed and sat beside me on the bed, acting like we were best friends.
“You know,” she started, adjusting her designer bag, “David is such a great guy. You’re lucky to be friends with him.”
I didn’t reply.
She smiled. “But let me warn you… he’s a heartbreaker.”
My stomach tightened. “Excuse me?”
She leaned closer, lowering her voice like she was sharing a secret.
“I know him better than anyone, Adaeze. And I can tell you for free—he gets bored easily. One minute he’s all sweet, the next? He disappears.”
I swallowed. “We’re just friends.”
She giggled like I had just cracked a joke.
“Oh, sweet girl,” she said, patting my hand. “That’s what I told myself too. And before I knew it, I was in too deep.”
I pulled my hand away, my heart pounding. What was she trying to do?
“Look, I like you,” she continued, smiling. “And I don’t want you to waste your time on something that won’t last.”
Something about the way she said “I like you” felt fake.
David walked back in at that moment, his face unreadable.
“Vanessa, are you done?” he asked.
She stood up, flipping her braids dramatically. “Yes, I am. Sister Ada and I were just bonding.”
Bonding? What kind of bonding was that?
She turned to me again. “I’ll see you around, dear. We should talk more.”
Before I could say anything, she walked out.
David exhaled and ran his hands through his hair.
“Sorry about that,” he muttered. “She can be… intense.”
I nodded slowly, still processing everything.
“What did she tell you?” he asked.
I looked at him. His deep brown eyes held genuine curiosity.
“Nothing,” I lied.
Because the truth? I didn’t know what to believe anymore.
