I Rejected the Richest Guy in Church—Here’s Why I Don’t Regret It: Episode 15
EPISODE 15: What She Left Behind
I sat there, stunned.
The folded paper lay on the table like a ticking bomb. The lady from the café—Charles’ so-called “fiancée”—had vanished just as quickly as she’d come, leaving behind more questions than answers… and a name I wasn’t ready for.
I slowly reached for the paper and unfolded it with trembling fingers.
One name.
But it wasn’t Charles.
It was a completely different name. One I didn’t recognize.
A quick search on my phone brought up a few scattered results—nothing specific, but one blog post caught my eye. It was an old article from two years ago. The photo wasn’t very clear, but the face… the face was undeniably Charles. Only he was standing beside a girl with tear-streaked eyes, and the caption read:
“Teenage Girl Alleges Emotional Abuse, Sues Ex-Boyfriend After Church Romance Goes South.”
I froze.
I clicked the article. The story was vague, but the allegations were strong. Emotional manipulation. Promises of marriage. Sudden disappearance. There were even hints of some kind of dare among his friends—but no names were mentioned. And apparently, the case was settled out of court.
My heart was pounding like it wanted out of my chest.
Could this be the real Charles? The one nobody in church knew? The one the pastor proudly called “a son in the Lord”?
I felt sick.
I looked around the café, as if someone might come explain all this away. But I was alone. Completely alone in this.
I scrolled back to the WhatsApp group—more congratulatory messages were still pouring in. Someone had even started planning a surprise engagement party for Sunday.
I felt like screaming.
Suddenly, my phone buzzed again. A new message. Same unknown number.
“Be careful. He’s not who he says he is. Don’t let him know I told you.”
I stared at it, my stomach twisting.
Everything was beginning to unravel, yet it felt like the real storm hadn’t even started.
And what haunted me the most was… why me? Why had he chosen me?
Was it really just revenge for rejecting him?
Or was there something deeper… something more dangerous?
To be continued…
