Episode 10 – Caught in the Act

Sandra’s breath hitched as Deborah’s fingers dug into her arm. The music pounded through the club, but it was nothing compared to the rapid thumping in her chest.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Deborah’s voice was sharp, low enough that only Sandra could hear.

Sandra swallowed hard, forcing herself to stay calm. “I just needed some air,” she said, trying to sound casual. “It’s too stuffy in there.”

Deborah scoffed. “You think I’m stupid?” Her eyes darted to Sandra’s bag. “You took your bag with you. Since when do you need a bag to breathe?”

Sandra opened her mouth to lie, but Deborah’s grip tightened. “Listen to me, Sandra,” she whispered harshly. “I warned you, didn’t I? You don’t just walk away from Mr. Leke.”

Sandra’s palms were sweaty. She knew she had to be careful with what she said next. “Deborah, please,” she whispered back. “This isn’t me. I don’t belong here.”

Deborah sighed, her face softening for a split second. But then she shook her head. “It’s too late for second thoughts. You think you can just leave? And then what? Go back to your mother? After everything?”

Sandra’s heart clenched at the mention of her mother. If she had listened to her, she wouldn’t be here now.

Deborah looked over her shoulder, then back at Sandra. “Look, just come back inside. Don’t make a scene.”

Sandra’s pulse pounded in her ears. She could see the exit just a few steps away. If she made a run for it, would she make it? Would anyone even help her?

She took a deep breath. “Deborah… I can’t.”

Deborah’s jaw tightened. “Then you leave me no choice.”

Before Sandra could react, Deborah grabbed her arm and started pulling her back towards the VIP section. Sandra struggled, but Deborah was stronger than she looked.

Panic surged through Sandra’s veins. She needed to act fast, or she might never get another chance.
