The Prodigal Daughter – Episode 2
Episode 2 – Welcome to the Other Side
The city lights dazzled Sandra as Deborah’s car weaved through the busy streets of Lagos. Everything felt surreal—like a dream. The freedom she had longed for was finally here. No more morning prayers, no more Bible study, no more of her mother’s endless warnings. She was stepping into a new world, one where she could be whoever she wanted.
“So, where are we going?” Sandra asked, her excitement barely contained.
Deborah smirked, tapping her long nails against the steering wheel. “First, let’s get you settled. Then, we’ll celebrate your new life properly.”
Sandra grinned, leaning back in her seat. This was what she had been waiting for.
The car pulled up in front of a sleek apartment complex in Lekki. Sandra’s eyes widened as she stepped out. “You live here?” she asked, astonished.
Deborah laughed. “Welcome to my world, baby girl.”
As they entered the apartment, Sandra’s jaw dropped. The place was nothing like her parents’ modest home. It was elegant, expensive, and filled with the latest gadgets. Deborah handed her a glass of wine and gestured toward the couch. “Relax, Sandra. This is your new home now.”
Sandra hesitated. Wine? She had never tasted alcohol before. But what was the harm? This was her new life, after all. She took a sip, wincing at the unfamiliar taste, but Deborah laughed. “You’ll get used to it.”
Just then, the front door opened, and a tall, well-dressed man walked in. He was in his forties, but his confidence and presence filled the room. Deborah’s face lit up. “Ah, Mr. Leke! You came at the right time.”
Sandra suddenly felt uneasy. There was something about the way Mr. Leke looked at her, a knowing smile on his face.

“She’s fresh,” he said, eyes lingering on Sandra a little too long. “You always bring me the best, Deborah.”
Sandra frowned. Bring? The word didn’t sit well with her. But before she could process it, Deborah placed a reassuring hand on her knee. “Relax, Sandra. You’ll love it here.”
Sandra forced a smile, but something in her spirit whispered—Run.

Episode 3 – The First Trap
Sandra couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. Mr. Leke’s lingering gaze, the way Deborah giggled too easily around him—it all felt strange. But she pushed the thought aside. Maybe she was just being paranoid. After all, Deborah wouldn’t put her in harm’s way… right?
“So, Sandra,” Mr. Leke’s deep voice interrupted her thoughts. “What do you think of your new life?”
Sandra forced a smile. “It’s nice. Different, but nice.”
He chuckled. “You’ll get used to it.”
Deborah nudged her playfully. “We should celebrate! There’s a party tonight at one of the best clubs in Lagos. You have to come.”
Sandra hesitated. She had never been to a club before, and her mother’s words rang in her head: The world will welcome you with open arms, but it will never tell you the price you’ll pay.
But she had already made her choice. “Okay,” she said, trying to sound excited. “Let’s do it.”
That night, Sandra stepped out of the room wearing the dress Deborah had picked for her—short, tight, and completely unlike anything she had ever worn. As they entered the club, the loud music and flashing lights overwhelmed her senses. She watched as people danced, laughed, and drank like nothing else mattered.
Deborah handed her another drink. “Loosen up, babe.”
Sandra took a sip. Then another. Soon, the tension in her body faded, and she found herself swaying to the music. Maybe this was what freedom felt like—reckless, wild, and limitless.
Then, Mr. Leke appeared beside her. “Having fun?”
Sandra nodded, but something about his presence unsettled her.
“Good,” he said, his smile widening. “Let’s take this fun somewhere more private.”
Sandra’s smile froze. “What do you mean?”
Deborah leaned in. “Relax, it’s just VIP. You’ll love it.”
Sandra hesitated, but before she could respond, Mr. Leke placed a firm hand on her waist and led her toward a secluded section of the club. Her heart pounded. Something didn’t feel right.
And then she realized—she had just stepped into her first trap.
