The Prodigal Daughter – Episode 7

Episode 7 – The Illusion of Choice

Sandra’s mind raced as she stood frozen, Deborah’s grip still firm on her wrist. The dim club lights flickered over their faces, casting long shadows. The air was thick with alcohol, sweat, and something else—danger.

She took a shaky breath. “Deborah, please. Let me go.”

Deborah sighed, her expression shifting to one of forced patience. “Sandra, you’re making this hard. Don’t act like a bush girl. Just come back inside, and everything will be fine.”

Sandra’s stomach clenched. Fine? There was nothing fine about this. Every instinct in her body screamed at her to run, to fight, to do anything but go back into that club.

She tried again, lowering her voice. “I don’t belong here, Deborah. This isn’t my life.”

Deborah’s eyes turned cold. “It is now.”

Sandra’s pulse pounded in her ears. Was this really her best friend? The girl she had shared secrets with? The same Deborah who had once stood up for her in secondary school?

She tried to yank her hand free, but Deborah’s nails dug into her skin. “Stop struggling,” Deborah hissed. “You think you can just walk out on Mr. Leke? He doesn’t like girls who waste his time.”

Fear curled around Sandra’s throat. This wasn’t just about a party. She had been lured into something much bigger than she understood.

Deborah leaned in, her breath hot against Sandra’s ear. “Be smart, Sandra. If you leave now, you might regret it.”

Sandra swallowed hard. A part of her wanted to believe Deborah was looking out for her. But another part—the part that remembered her mother’s warnings—knew the truth.

She was in a trap. And the only way out… was to outsmart them all.

She forced a smile. “Okay,” she whispered. “I’ll come back inside.”

Deborah’s grip loosened, and she smiled. “Good girl.”

But as Sandra followed her back into the club, she made a silent vow.

She would escape. No matter what it took.

Episode 8 – Playing the Game

Sandra forced herself to smile as she stepped back into the VIP section, Deborah leading the way. Her heart pounded, but she kept her expression calm. She couldn’t let them see her fear. Not yet.

Mr. Leke’s eyes flickered up as they approached. He smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “That was quick,” he said. “I was beginning to think you ran away.”

Sandra let out a small laugh. “Where would I run to?” she said lightly, slipping into her seat. “I was just overwhelmed. Everything here is so… different.”

Mr. Leke’s gaze lingered on her, studying her closely. Then, he chuckled. “You’re a smart girl, Sandra.” He reached for his drink and took a slow sip. “And smart girls go far in life.”

Sandra nodded, her mind working fast. If she wanted to get out of here, she needed to gain their trust first. She couldn’t afford to make another reckless move.

Deborah leaned in, her voice low. “See? No need to panic. Just relax and enjoy.”

Sandra picked up her drink, swirling it in her hand. “So, Mr. Leke, you were telling me about enjoying the good life.”

He smirked, clearly pleased with her renewed interest. “Yes. The right connections open doors. You just have to know how to play the game.”

Sandra’s fingers tightened around the glass. Game. That was the word he had used earlier. What kind of game was this?

She took a slow sip of her drink, her mind racing. She needed more information. She needed to understand what she was really up against.

Mr. Leke leaned forward. “If you stick with me, Sandra, I can make sure you never have to struggle again. Money, travel, influence… It’s all within reach.”

Sandra smiled, but inside, her stomach churned. This wasn’t just about fun. There was something bigger at play, something dangerous.

And she had just become a pawn in their game.

But they didn’t know one thing—

She was planning her next move.
